Heroes of Might and Magic V
Just want to make a post here stating that: sorry for not updating my blog on the recent cameron trip (boardgame extravaganza!), but I’ve been trying Heroes 5 to check whether it still interest me or not.
Sadly, no! Yup, sorry to all fans out there but Heroes 4 is the pinnacle of the series. So there.

You should give Heroes V another try. Try to get through the 1st campaign, which is in fact a boring tutorial. The 3rd and 4th campaign is quite interesting. If you play on the hard difficulty, it is almost impossible to win unless you figure out ways to prevent any casualty on your army. If you are really disappointed with Heroes V, why not join the fun (if you haven’t) in Gal Civ 2? It is really great!

yah, but i feel that Heroes 4 controls are better and more user friendly, is what i mean.

Heroes IV had most of the controls on-screen as buttons. Personally I hated the new combat mechanic whatwith instant retals and blocked archery plus the fact that everything was symbolized without narrative to explain what happened.
Heroes V is Heroes III with better cosmetics I’d agree, but it’s everything that works. Plus the initiative bar makes combat much more easier to decide which stack to attack first etc.
Wish they had more multiplayer FFA maps as well.
Was going to write more but hey no point arguing. It’ll take ages to sort out the differences.

I’m still playing Heroes V, regardless of what I’m saying. I’m just not as addicted as Heroes IV. Some of the things like the missing ‘army split’ button and the ‘wait’ button in battle was not implemented in the interface. The caravan mode for moving armies between cities was not implemented. And yes, the troops unable to block archer shots… I missed it as well.
Overall, a step backwards in the series for me.
